During lockdown in March 2020, I started watching Supernatural all the way through from the start, and yesterday I finished it. (That makes it roughly one episode every three days, I calculate!) I loved it. I wish I'd started watching it much, much earlier while it was still airing so I could join in the fandom conversations, even though I really wouldn't have had the time for that. But oh boy, this show really did hit all the same things for me as Buffy and New Who and MCU - great characters, warmth and humour and emotion and some rollicking good stories.

Spoilers for final episode, just in case! )

Now I need another show to watch and look forward to new episodes of, since there's so very little Doctor Who to talk about these days. Anyone have any suggestions? Most of the things I've found lately seem to be just mini-series, which are great but I'd love something a bit more long-running, or at least the potential to be!

Just hit the 200th episode of Supernatural tonight, almost exactly 18 months after I started watching the show for the first time last year in lockdown. I realise I haven't posted anything else about it since but, boy, do I love this show. I REALLY wish I'd caught it when it first aired so I could have shared the excitement and discussions with everyone else.

And this episode? Utterly perfect. Obviously, as an am-dramer myself, I was going to enjoy this am-dram story, but oh, there was so much there. A different take on the obligatory 'musical episode', and yet another different way for the show to break the fourth wall, and an utterly delightful way for the show to celebrate everything it's accomplished. All (well, most of) our beloved characters there even if not with their original faces, and a beautiful way for Sam and Dean to learn about themselves. Far too many lovely little moments to mention, but I have to give a big shout out for the "Carry on my Wayward Son" which made me tear up a little, and also to that little glimpse of Chuck at the end there. Gorgeous.

I haven't got any Supernatural icons, so you get Giles singing with his guitar instead, because that's the same sort of emotion for me. :-)

So I was looking for something new to watch whilst I actually have evenings at home with time to watch stuff, and I discovered I could get Supernatural on Prime from the beginning. I always meant to watch it at some point, because I liked Jensen Ackles in Dark Angel, and I particularly wanted to watch it since my first roleplay with a Dean around the end of 2007, and since then I've played with several Deans and Sams, a Castiel and a Balthazar, and possibly one or two others I can't think of right now. But I never managed to catch a re-run of the show from the start - until now!

So, in the last three nights I've watched the first three episodes. And, frankly, was very underwhelmed by 1 and 2. But then in the third ep there was Amy Acker (awww) and a storyline that actually grabbed me, along with some better character development for the boys, and oh, they were everso cute, weren't they? :-D (Even if nowadays I am more than old enough to be their mother.) But anyway, my interest has now been piqued and I'm looking forward to more!

At the very least, it's easy watching (which my brain definitely needs right now - feeling just a teeny bit overwhelmed by everything!) and extremely easy on the eye. :-)
