Supernatural episodes 1-3 (only 15 years behind everyone else)

So I was looking for something new to watch whilst I actually have evenings at home with time to watch stuff, and I discovered I could get Supernatural on Prime from the beginning. I always meant to watch it at some point, because I liked Jensen Ackles in Dark Angel, and I particularly wanted to watch it since my first roleplay with a Dean around the end of 2007, and since then I've played with several Deans and Sams, a Castiel and a Balthazar, and possibly one or two others I can't think of right now. But I never managed to catch a re-run of the show from the start - until now!

So, in the last three nights I've watched the first three episodes. And, frankly, was very underwhelmed by 1 and 2. But then in the third ep there was Amy Acker (awww) and a storyline that actually grabbed me, along with some better character development for the boys, and oh, they were everso cute, weren't they? :-D (Even if nowadays I am more than old enough to be their mother.) But anyway, my interest has now been piqued and I'm looking forward to more!

At the very least, it's easy watching (which my brain definitely needs right now - feeling just a teeny bit overwhelmed by everything!) and extremely easy on the eye. :-)

I never watched more than the first few episodes of season 1, and it didn't grab me at all. And I didn't watch any of seasons 2 or 3 - but then I completely fell in love with the show with season 4. IIRC I started watching it because of a meta post on my flist, and OMG, did it ever deliver. So I guess what I want to say is that if you feel like giving up on the show at some point, it might be worth it to just try and skip ahead to season 4.

I have the first 4 series on dvd, but have only watched a few episodes from each. What I've seen, I've liked. I've even been to a couple of Supernatural conventions despite being so behind with the show. I avoided the fandom as incest is a major squick and that's what most of the fic involved for the first 3 series.

I'm the designated 'Bobby' of my group of friends, partly because I know church latin, like fixing things and am a mine of (useless) information I think.

Yeah, I'm aware of the "Wincest" thing and I guess it was fairly inevitable given that the two boys are literally the only two regular characters in the beginning, but I imagine if you're not into it it's rather like being in Torchwood fandom and not being into Jack/Ianto. :-D It's not a big turn-off for me, so long as it's well-written, but I suspect a lot of the fic would be of a similar standard to the "Janto" stuff, which *is* a turn-off!

(No disrespect to J/I shippers - I have finally come to like J/I myself after RPing with the fantastic Emily's Ianto for so many years - but there is an awful lot of drivel out there!)

I haven't met Bobby yet except by fannish osmosis so can't really comment on that part, but that doesn't sound like a bad sort of role to play! :-)

I completely share your opinion on the "Janto" stuff. You may remember me bemoaning the use of portmanteaux names more than once and it wasn't just because of the character subsumation thing I have but because they seemed to be used more often by the ones who were righting the drivel.

Oh hey, I think we all bemoaned that, a lot! I have always hated those names, and yes, a lot of that is to do with the fact that the fics written by people who use those names tend to be, yes, drivel!
