Got my [community profile] intoabar fic finished just in time, after having added a whole new part to it last night! It's not beta'd and not as polished as it would once have been, but these days I'm just happy to have finished something I'm pleased with and got it posted by the deadline!!

Also? This is my first time ever writing Star Trek, so I'm rather pleased with that too!

Title: The Unlikely Diner and the Impossible Girl
Fandom: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Doctor Who
Character(s): Jean-Luc Picard, Clara Oswald
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1975
Spoilers: Next Gen: mid-series (specifically the semi-canonical comic Assimilation), Doctor Who: Hell Bent
Disclaimer: Not mine
Summary: Jean-Luc Picard goes into a bar (or, rather, a diner) and meets… Clara Oswald
Author's Note: Written for [community profile] intoabar (actual post here)

Read it on AO3

And do go and check out all the other amazing crossovers at the community: [community profile] intoabar

Okay, I got my assignment for who Picard is going to be running into in a bar and it's... Clara Oswald.

Which is pretty awesome. I am NOT a big Clara fan, but I've written her before for an exchange so at least I know I can. And I have at least three options for how she could be running into Picard in the 24th century: a) she's travelling with the Doctor, b) she's travelling in her own TARDIS with Me or c) she's a Clara!splinter.

To be honest, all three are intriguing ideas and choosing just one is going to be difficult! Maybe I'll do all three, as AUs! :-D

Obviously I also need to decide whether this is going to be Next Gen Picard or Picard Picard! Hell, maybe I'll do both of those too!

Whatever, this has certainly got the creative juices flowing...

...Also, gonna need to find me a Picard icon and/or a Clara icon for talking about this! (Best I can do is Twelve from Clara's era!)

I've been dithering over my sign-up, because I had this idea to choose Jean-Luc Picard as my main character, because we've been watching ST: The Next Gen and ST: Picard S1 (to remind ourselves what happened before we venture into S2) and so for the first time I thought I'd try writing a Star Trek character. Then I kept getting cold feet and putting off signing up. But now I've done it. After all, the worst that can happen is that I don't post a fic!

I've elminated Torchwood from the possible choice of fandoms he'll venture into, because I've ended up with TW characters the last two times. I added SJA this time instead. Looking forward to seeing who I get, now!

Well, I have really enjoyed this season. It took a little while to get going, and for us to get to know the characters of his dysfunctional little band, but in the end I have really enjoyed getting to know them and am looking forward to more.

Well, I have finally seen Star Trek – took my mum (who got me into the original series) because Andy had already seen it. And may I say, I was *very* pleasantly surprised. I'd heard almost nothing but good stuff about it, but I admit I was very sceptical that it could possibly live up to the original series (all of them) and still bring something new to it.

Cut for length and spoilers )

I'm sure I shall think of more to say as soon as I've posted this, but I shall just conclude with: all in all, this is a wonderful homage to the original series and something I am very much looking forward to seeing more of.
