Been feeling very 'meh' lately so haven't got round to posting, but here's some stuff!

1. For my Intoabar assignment, to meet Giles I was given Najia Khan (Doctor Who). My first reaction was 'Who???'. After a few moments, I realised I'd literally just rewatched Arachnids in the UK and that this was Yaz's mum. Wish I'd been paying more attention while I was watching! Will have to go back and watch it again. But an okay character. She's brave and up for an adventure, at least. At the moment, I'm picturing Giles rocking up to the hotel after the episode, having heard about the mutant spiders, or something. I did think briefly about some flashbacks to them having met in his Ripper days, but I think Najia's a bit young for that. Will see if anything comes to me!

2. She-Hulk. Jackster and I just finished watching this series and, whilst Tatiana Maslany has been very good in it, it's mostly bored me and all the fourth wall breaking annoyed me. Until the last pair of episodes, when the introduction of Matt Murdock and some actual chemistry finally had me sitting up, and then the mega-fourth-wall-breaking had me giggling like a schoolgirl (is that the right phrase?) and really loving it for going there.

3. Doctor Who: Invasion of the Dinosaurs. Got this on DVD for Christmas and finally got round to watching it. Really, really enjoyed it. Strong script, good story, amazing cast of actors, and even the dinosaurs didn't look as dodgy as I'd been led to expect. It was 1973 for goodness sake! I thought they were pretty amazing for the time, and the story more than made up for any failings in the special effects anyway. I'm not a huge Sarah Jane fan but thought she really shone in this, her second story, and I've decided that Jon Pertwee is quite possibly my favourite Doctor after Peter Capaldi. So suave and cool and funny. The UNIT guys had a lot of good stuff in this one too, including the surprise of Mike Yates turning traitor. A really interesting story, which I enjoyed re-watching with the commentary and informative captions.

So, once I got Disney+ I went straight to Loki, because I like Tom Hiddleston and have always been fascinated by the character. And I enjoyed that series a lot, especially because of how it felt very much like RTD Doctor Who (and was so much more engaging than recent seasons of DW!), but it fell very flat in several episodes and I wasn't as excited by it as I expected.

So after that I watched WandaVision. And wow. I mean, wow. Especially once I got to the fourth episode and the world outside Wanda's sitcom heaven/hell (depending on your perspective). So fascinating. So much to think about. So many references that I only got thanks to Den of Geek, but that's okay. The thing is, it was so much more than clever, it had heart as well. I'd never been particularly interested in Wanda so I was mainly there for Paul Bettany, but Elizabeth Olsen really drew me in with her wonderfully nuanced portrayal of this damaged, grieving, incredibly powerful character, and now I love Wanda too! Can't really ask more than that, can you?

Can't wait to go back and watch it all again, with hindsight!

P.S. I'm also 3 episodes into The Falcon and the Winter Solder but so far it hasn't grabbed me. I like Sam and Bucky well enough (Sam more than Bucky) but neither of them to me really has the star quality to lead a show. Still, I shall carry on with it and see if it too surprises me by the end! :-)

P.P.S. I just realised I still have NO MCU icons. Seriously, where does one go for specific icons these days???

So. We have got Disney+ for 3 months thanks to Tesco Clubcard vouchers so we're watching Loki at last! I've always loved Loki, since I started roleplaying with a Loki, before I'd even seen him in Thor or the Avengers!

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I don't think it was that )

...It turns out that I don't have any MCU icons! I need to rectify this! Can anyone point the way to some, please?

I got a really wonderful Thor fic which I absolutely love - a fantastic look at Thor post-Ragnarok and his relationships with Loki and Valkyrie, with great character voices and insights. Do go and visit and give the author some love!

Watched this last night (thanks to a tip from a fellow RP-er that we really ought to see it before going to see Avengers: Infinity War tonight) and it was awesome! So much fun, and so much character development! Cut for spoilers )

Overall verdict? Loved it. :-)
