SPIKE: The wedding. Two hearts joined for eternity, great pelting showers of rice and so forth.
BUFFY: You didn't hear.
SPIKE: What? Families get out of hand? Tear the place apart?
BUFFY: No. Well, yes, absolutely. But... Xander left. The wedding didn't happen.
SPIKE: Well. Gotta say... I didn't see that coming. (sits on a bench)
BUFFY: It was awful. (sits nearby) Anya was devastated.
SPIKE: Is that right.
BUFFY: And, Xander... thinks maybe they can still get back together, but... he hurt her a lot.
SPIKE: Yeah, well... some people can't see a good thing when they've got it.

Marvel Stars Stand for Jimmy Kimmel: Pedro Pascal Defends Free Speech While Others Endorse Boycott

Pascal’s post came on the heels of other Marvel stars taking their support a step further by endorsing a boycott of the studio and its subsidiaries, including platforms that stream their work. Marisa Tomei, who played Aunt May opposite Tom Holland in the Spider-Man franchise (a Marvel property distributed by Sony, though she appears in Disney releases from the Avengers universe), reposted a call to “unsubscribe and boycott” platforms under the Walt Disney Company umbrella, including Marvel, ABC, ESPN, Fox Entertainment, Hulu, Pixar, Lucasfilm and Bamtech Media.
Tatiana Maslany, who starred in the title role of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a Marvel series that debuted on Disney+, posted a behind-the-scenes photo of herself on set, urging her Instagram followers to “cancel your Disney+, Hulu, ESPN subscriptions!” Mark Ruffalo, who played the Hulk on the big screen, participated in a No Kings online event during which he weighed in. “My industry doesn’t really understand what’s happening right now, but what they do understand is our freedom of speech is being attacked.”

Pinewood is a small town in Texas — where everyone knows everyone and secrets don't stay hidden for very long.
With the sudden influx of tourism, the locals have tried to make the best of the situation by welcoming newcomers with open arms - that is, until dead bodies start appearing, and now everyone is a suspect.
How long will it take to find the killer, and more importantly, who will be the next victim?

Who Knew There Were Such Things as Pepper Spray Balls?
Yeah, not me. But there they were, being shot on Friday morning - by a rooftop sniper, no less - at protestors outside an ICE detention center in Broadview, immediately west of Chicago. In addition to the pepper spray, the ICE thugs tossed tear gas canisters at the protestors. They slammed people to the ground, and at least one protestor, activist and political hopeful Kat Abughazaleh, said that one of these public servants told her "Your First Amendment rights are on the sidewalk" as he did some of that slamming. Stay classy, ICE.
The protestors have been at that facility every Friday, and this is, as far as I can tell, the first time the thugs have escalated this. It seems to me to be clear; they hadn't been properly escalating the situation in a way that Dear Leader needs in order to pretend that the Chicago Hellscape™ requires him to send in the military, and on Friday they got their marching orders.
I do believe I've mentioned this before; they are motherfuckers.

So, I spent the last couple of days editing/revising and have now posted it officially.

I got home about an hour earlier today and slightly less disgusting. It got back up in the 90s F today with humidity to spare, but about time work as winding down, some wind blew in what was supposed to be rain but which was a temperature drop of about 10F in an hour, though that still left it in a more comfortable but still quite warm 80s range.
Managed to clean my dishes that had been sitting for two days. Was going to try to cook something but realized the eggplant from the mail had started to go bad, so screw it, I'll wait for the weekend. I have to work this Saturday but only a half day and I get to sleep in.
I'm still just feeling so brain-cooked and frustrated. I want to be creative, but I always just feel like I'm in trouble for not doing enough to entertain the friends I have who care what I do.
I got a little notebook in the mail. Plan to use it for prayer journaling due to the whole brain-is-too-slippery-and-overheated feeling.
I also wrote in my little Japanese study notebook I started before I moved here in 2024 for the first time since. Something about my old boss's approach to "encouraging" me to learn Japanese just made me pissed off for over a year. At least I am doing something, but I want to do things that don't just feel practical without being too tired to function.
