I've been dithering over my sign-up, because I had this idea to choose Jean-Luc Picard as my main character, because we've been watching ST: The Next Gen and ST: Picard S1 (to remind ourselves what happened before we venture into S2) and so for the first time I thought I'd try writing a Star Trek character. Then I kept getting cold feet and putting off signing up. But now I've done it. After all, the worst that can happen is that I don't post a fic!

I've elminated Torchwood from the possible choice of fandoms he'll venture into, because I've ended up with TW characters the last two times. I added SJA this time instead. Looking forward to seeing who I get, now!

Oo, good luck and have fun! I looked into that event on your recommendation and... it actually sounds really fun but I can't figure out what I would want to do, either which character I'm choosing or what fandoms to list. I think I really want Good Omens (TV) for the fandom (any character at all). I have a little more time to decide.

It is SOOO hard to choose! I go at it from the view of "what fandoms do I know well enough to feel I could write ANY major character from" and then go through the other shows I've watched (and usually never written for) to find that one character I feel I could write...

It's perfectly fine to put down just one fandom to be given your random character from, if you definitely want to write Good Omens. You'd just need to find your one character from a different show. :-)

I told my husband about this and we talked it over for a while and came up with Kaylee from Firefly for the initial character. He had suggested River Tam but I thought she'd be too difficult to do well, so then it came down to either Jayne or Kaylee. i'm eager to see who she's going to meet. This should be fun! Thanks for mentioning this thon! :)

I like that! I've never been into Firefly as much as Buffy/Angel and it's years now since I watched it, but if I were going to try then yes, the only characters I think I could attempt writing would be Kaylee or Jayne, or perhaps Mal at a pinch. Totally agree that River would be very difficult!
