Knitting

I've started knitting again. I more or less stopped when I started writing again, but lately I've suddenly got the urge to knit again. I finished off the hat I'd promised jadesfire2808 in time to give it to her when she visited the other week, and since then I've started a very basic scarf (1x1 rib, which I can do without looking or thinking and can therefore knit even whilst watching programmes I need to pay attention to - like DW *g*) and yesterday I began a cute little sleeveless hoodie for Jack which I can also use as a stash-buster (i.e. using lots of wool I've already got and thus reducing the storage room necessary for my wool when we move).

And since I forgot to take a picture of Jades' hat before I gave it to her (because I'm out of practice at these things!), here are some pictures of other things I've knitted.



Finger puppets I made for some of the mother and baby group babies' first birthdays.

A cuddly caterpillar I made for one of them for his first Christmas (we did a Secret Santa so I only had to knit for one of them).


And the piece de resistance: a shawl I knitted for my Nana's 95th birthday last May. This is the most complicated thing I've ever done and I'm really, really proud of it.

Hayfever's still bad today. I'm still dopey because I couldn't sleep - again. Grrr.

I'd be, too. Alas, I can't knit at all. My mum tried teaching me once, but we got it all mixed up 'cause I'm left-handed and it somehow just didn't work :(

I was never very good at it till I got pregnant and had hours just sitting there with no energy and the desire to do something useful with my time. I persevered, and got there in the end. :-)

quick to make for you maybe. With my meager knitting skills I'd be at it for weeks.

They're seriously only twelve stitches round. Even if you were a really slow knitter, I can't believe they'd take very long! :-)

ah, but there's the casting on and remembering how to do the different stitches and getting the tension right...

Well, yeah, you might need to look those up, but once you'd done it once I'm sure you'd get the hang of it. :-)

This is what I've just started for Jack, only with stripes to use up all the different colours of wool I've got. He helped me choose which colours to use. :-)

I still can't quite believe I actually made that shawl! With only one tiny mistake in too (which even I couldn't find again afterwards). :-)

I generally only choose easy things that I can do whilst watching telly - that way I'm doing something useful at the same time and it doesn't matter how long they take. :-)
