Reaction to Something Borrowed (Torchwood 2.9)

Um. Is it just me being really tired and stressed, or was that really quite awful? Not awful-awful, just... poor Gwen. What an awful thing to do to her on her wedding day. And it seemed to keep veering between only vaguely amusing bits that were presumably supposed to be funny and vomit-inducing sugariness (especially with Jack). Hmmm.

(Mind you, how the hell did she have time to plan a wedding that quickly, working her hours???? Or did she get Ianto to do it?)

On the other hand, that last little bit, with Jack going through his box of photos, including a wedding photo? That made up for the whole of the rest of it.

that bit with Jack looking at photos at the end was the only bit I liked. sigh, poor guy. *sniff*

That was a gorgeous tag to the episode. And actually made it a lot less Jack/Gwen than it seemed to be.

Ugh. I didn't hate it and I'll probably enjoy it more when I'm less tired and stressed. As with the rest of the series. It just seems that I have to work hard to enjoy it at the moment.

yeah, this supports my theory that Jack wants the kind of life Gwen has more than he wants Gwen.

So, scene at the end good. Bit with chainsaw and big giant gun entertaining. Other than that... mostly meh.

I didn't have it, I just didn't care either way about it, except for the poorly contrived moments (gee, Gwen, you're pregnant on your wedding day, didn't it occur to you your mom and dad might be expecting a grandkid then?)

Oh, give the girl a chance, she's still dealing with the trauma of being pregnant! It might well take her a while to think of things like that!
