I actually thought my word-count was going to be even higher than this – not that I'm complaining, because quantity isn't everything, but it just felt like I wrote even more! Maybe it was all that rewriting! On the other hand, I did also post a 6,000 word piece of meta, and three episode reviews.

A couple of 'firsts', too: I took part in the feedback exchange, I wrote the Ninth Doctor properly, and had mad_jaks write a follow up to that story, which was very flattering! I even wrote my first deliberately non-slashy Doctor/Jack story.

I also swore off writing, for a whole five days. I'm back now. *g*

I wrote tons more this month than I usually do and I ended up with 'round 8,000 words. I'm such a slow writer.

That is not slow. I did about 8,000 last month.

This has just been a completely mad month for me, writing-wise. It's no wonder I burned myself out, really. :-)

Yeah, well, my usual quota is at about 1,000 words a month? *coughs* That is rather slow, don't you think?

Not that I mind too much. I just like to whine about it a lot.

I think it's fantastic, though, that you wrote so much. And I have to say again that I liked all of it *beams*

Thank you - it's lovely that you liked ALL of it! :-)

And really, it's quality that counts. I just do the statistics because I like statistics. I'm also - now - fairly happy with most of what I wrote this month. I re-read some of the ficlets while I was compiling this and they were a lot better than I thought.

The doctor/jack mpreg is for the guilty pleasure fest, though I don't feel guilty at all for liking mpreg 'cause I do have good reasons. But I'm still writing it and it's probably not going to be good enough to satisfy me. That's what I get for trying to write something serious after just re-watching Hot Fuzz, though. British accents do weird things to my brain.

One day I'm going to make you tell me what possible good reasons you could have for liking mpreg. (But I know I'm biased simply because I hated being pregnant and don't like to read about anyone having to go through it, male or female!)

Well, I'm trying to write the mpreg, but I'm far too hyper and it's actually meant to be serious and a bit angsty and not full of crack. Not. *bangs head against desk* Gah! Me and British accents and chocolate and funny action movies. Not a good combination. Also? My dad's going to buy a muffin backing pan so that I can make muffins tomorrow which makes me happy! Yay!
... Really hyper right now. Can you tell?

Oh, and while I'm all rambly, shall I tell you my reasoning right now? It's very simple, really. It's not about the actual act of pregnancy, but it's about seeing two characters, who in most cases happen to be alpha males 'cause that's just the characters I like to read about most, in a situation that is extremely unusual for them. It's about throwing them something they can't be prepared to deal with, something that has consequences for both their life and their emotions. And what I like about well-written mpregs (keyword being well-written in this sentence) is that they show how these characters deal with that extreme situation while still being them and staying ic. mind you, there's not many mpregs out there who pull it off well, but those that do I absolutely adore, so that's my reason for liking mpreg.
and I don't actually believe that my writing's well enough to show exactly that, two characters dealing with a situation like that while remaining true to themselves, but I can try and if I don't succeed.. eh. Never said I was going to post it, did I? :D

Ah, right, that makes sense now. I really haven't read many - in fact it's possible that Becky's is the only one I've read - because of the squick factor for me, but that does sound interesting.

I can understand how it'd be a squick factor for some people, but since I don't have to deal with it on any level other than the fictional, I don't mind. And it is interesting to see how two alpha males react to it.

Yeah, it's been a ridiculously productive month!

(Having said that, 7,000 of those words for MP were actually written last month...)

And it's quality not quantity, remember. And you've done a lot of drabbles and they take a lot of time relative to the word-count.
