Maybe I should be writing plays...

I'm writing my Jack/Jack thing, and it's coming out as almost completely dialogue only at this point. I've got a few little notes ('grin', 'move' etc.) for where I want pauses, but otherwise it's almost entirely dialogue.

Maybe it's because Jack has such a very clear voice. Maybe it's because I've got two of him. *g*

Obviously I will be going back and adding in bits around the actual dialogue - and hopefully he'll shut up a bit later when I actually get to the sex! - but I'm just finding it really interesting.

Other news:

1. Master Plan Chapter 7 has been through two betas and is now with the third and hopefully final beta, and I'm feeling more confident about it now. You may hopefully expect to see it sometime next week.

2. We've found another house to buy and have put in an offer. Now if we can just get someone to buy ours (or at least someone to buy our buyer's flat)...

ETA (because I forgot) 3. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans, and anyone else who's celebrating it. Which reminds me: must order a turkey for Christmas... :-)

Dialogue can be rather interesting, but there's something to be said for the bits around it, too *grins* Especially in a sex scene..

Yeah, I was trying to imagine writing a sex scene as dialogue-only. It might go something like:

"Unff!"

"Oh yeah!"

"Harder!"

"Guh!"

Yeah. Not the most exciting stuff to read. *g*

And yeah, it's nice to be feeling more confident. Very nice. :-)

I was just thinking about this overnight, and I suspect you're suffering from the same sort of problem as me, i.e. we're past the first flush of excitement and ideas for the beginning of the story and settling into the doldrums of the middle and both wondering quite where to take it from there.

I'm fairly sure I'm going to skip ahead a bit with the next chapter of MP, and I was thinking maybe it might help you get going again on Old Man if you did that. Skip ahead, perhaps to a happier time, and then go back to the Doctor going through the door as a flashback, if you want to. You could even not describe that bit in much detail at all, if that's what's holding you up.

Just my thoughts. :-)

that's a brilliant idea! My main problem is that is that it was supposed to be a one shot and now have no real idea where it's going as I've been writing it. But would get around that! *tips hat to you*

I know, and tbh I'm not that bothered about turkey, it's just that this is only the second Christmas I've actually hosted and it'd be nice to do it properly, you know?

I would do beef, but my sister in law is coming and she only eats chicken/turkey and I get fed up doing roast chicken for family dinner parties. So it'd mean doing two diffferent things. I need to think about it! (i.e. I need to actually stop thinking about writing for more than five minutes at a time and get my brain round Christmas!)

I have the fruit soaking for the cake and this afternoon I tried out a really quick chocolate pudding recipe that is now sitting in the freezer waiting for tasting tomorrow

I don't like Christmas cake so I don't make one. Mum makes one and Andy has a bit of that and we're all happy. Last time I got away without making a Christmas pudding too (made Nigella's chocolate cloud cake instead, which is fabulous) though I might get/make one this time.

I was thinking about ham, actually. Can't remember if sister in law eats it. She might do.

Oh it is yummy. Picture and recipe here. It's my standard dinner party desert. I make it at least twice a year, and it's now - um - six years since that Christmas when I first made it! :-)
