Darn. Forgot to go looking for a Dawn icon. Have to make do with Giles - at least he's the right 'verse!

Title: A Little Understanding (Drabble)
Fandom: Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Author: [livejournal.com profile] unfeathered
Character: Dawn, Willow
Rating: G
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Wrecked (and Season 6 generally)
Disclaimer: Not mine
Summary: Dawn tries to understand Willow
Author’s Note: Written for [livejournal.com profile] karaokegal's Come As You're Not Halloween Party. This is Buffy not Doctor Who or a crossover; female POV not male; 2nd person POV not 1st or 3rd. All of which are firsts for me. Oh, and it's short. *g*

You don't understand Willow. How could anything be worth risking the person you love? Especially sweet, understanding, wonderful Tara.

How can magic be worth losing her? How can Willow risk her love for some cheap thrill? Not even that cheap; you remember Willow at Rack's place, dizzy and drained. It didn't look worth that either, though Willow was smiling.

Mind you… You think of yourself, squirreling away trinkets from the Magic Box and other shops… That's not all that different, is it? The little thrill you get from taking things without being caught.

Maybe you do understand, just a little.

Ooh, nicely done. Goes right to the heart of the whole mess.

Nice work - have a Dawn icon! (by [livejournal.com profile] ruuger)

Oooh, me likes.... excellent snapshot of what she would be thinking during that period!

I don't even know Buffyverse very well at all and I think that's a nifty comparison. And the 2nd person really works for this. If you and Smithy keep writing good 2nd person, I may have to revise my opinion of it!

I'm not sure what the point of it is, either, because generally it throws me right out of a story. "You open the door of the haunted house." Like hell I do! *g*

Yeah, I think that's how you tell it's working, all right!

Very nice. Great edgy vignette. Thanks so much for coming to the party.

Worse things could happen.

It took me a minute to get oriented here, probably because this is the first time I've read any 2nd person, but I like this a lot. It really sounds like the thought process Dawn would have taken in reaching empathy with Willow.

I'll admit to having to work hard with the second person but yes it works *g* Lovely work

I am not totally up on the Buffyverse (I have some catching up to do)

But I enjoyed the little glimpse at Dawn, and the balancing of desire and what it means to not really choose, but to be seduced by it.

Thanks :)
