I have been looking forward to this one, because it's about crossovers, and crossovers are something I absolutely adore. It's one of the main things I've got out of role-playing - throwing Jack up against all sorts of different people (sometimes literally! :-D), from Merlin to Hannibal, from Loki to, well, himself! I just love that.
So, hopefully I can achieve that in fic too. Well, I already have, given that a good proportion of my fics are crossovers between the Whoverse and the Buffyverse, but now it's time for something else. Because I'm going to have Doctor Who, Torchwood, Buffy and Angel as my four fics to be given a random character from, but my main character, the one I know I'll definitely be writing, the one who walks into the bar, is going to be something else.
Only thing is, I need to choose, and that's hard! (I'm really bad at making decisions.)
Here's what I'm thinking, in order of preference at this point in time:
1. Penelope Garcia (Criminal Minds) - I don't think there's anyone else I could write from Criminal Minds (except possibly Derek Morgan, because he's basically Jack in another guise) but Garcia? She's warm and open and funny, and I actually got into CM in the first place because my Jack hit it off with her, and she definitely feels like someone I could write, and have fun with. Again, quite similar to Jack in some ways, albeit different ones from Morgan!
2. Aziraphale - I could use this as an opportunity to dip my toe into writing Good Omens - I'm not ready for Crowley yet because he's so darn slippery, but I think I could manage Aziraphale.
3. Merlin - I'd probably need to rewatch a few episodes, but again Merlin is someone who seems fairly easy to write, and I've seen Colin Morgan in other things so am fairly comfortable with his voice.
4. Inara (Firefly) - I've weirdly never felt like writing Firefly. I love the show but I've never managed to get any of the characters' voices in my head, and the only one I've ever written - and that was in a drabble, crossed over with Jack - is Inara. Interestingly, she's quite different from the other characters above, in that she's very controlled and not nearly so gushing, but she's still go that generosity and open-mindedness.
Weirdly, I don't feel capable of writing any of the MCU characters, even though I love the movies. I love Tony the most but trying to write him scares me, and I don't feel like I know any of them well enough to write them. It seems like to write someone I not only need to watch the canon multiple times but also read and talk about it too.
After that, there are a few cracky options which I could go for, like Basil Fawlty (whom I've written once, in a crossover with - you guessed it! - Jack), or Baldrick, or Emmet from The Lego Movie... But yeah, probably not. :-D
At the moment, I think it's going to be Garcia, but I'm going to have another good, hard think before I actually make a final decision!

The 2 times I've done Into a Bar I've ended up writing Methos - one was because that's who was picked for me (I'd picked Ace) and the other because I picked him for myself. I also did a comment fic with Methos that wasn't part of the challenge proper, but still involved a bar! Seeing as Methos muse is playing again, I might sign up. My 4 fandoms would be Dresden Files, Torchwood, Merlin and maybe Doctor Who.
