Just watched the newly complete version of Shada and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't know if it was because it perhaps ended up still slightly abridged, but the pacing seemed so much better than most of the classic serials and the script was fantastic, full of classic Douglas Adams wit and humour. The Doctor, particularly, had so many wonderful lines and moments – and you could hear old!Tom Baker enjoying it just as much in the animated parts as you could see him enjoying it in the original parts! And while I am not a fan of this kind of animation, there was little enough of it in this serial that I got on okay with it, even to the extent of only *just* remembering in the final coda scene that we hadn't seen the *real* TARDIS interior at all and so it was weird to see it now – only to have old!Tom Baker pop up as the Doctor, which was hilarious and absolutely perfect, given the very silly tone of the whole thing! Loved it.

I loved all the little extra snippets of information about Gallifrey too, and Professor Chronotis was a fascinating character. Looking forward to having time to watch the extras now!

Oh, that does sound promising! I couldn't finish the book, because of the author who adapted it, but it sounds like the actual script was much better. Hardly a surprise, given the author of that :)
