God, what an awful night! I was knackered by the time I got to bed (about 12.15) and went to sleep really quickly, which is unusual. And then Jack woke up at 3.00 wanting his nappy changed so I did that and put him back expecting him to go back to sleep again as normal.
An hour later, we were still getting up every few minutes to stop him crying and, having changed him twice, watered him, medicined him and tried to bonjela him but failed because he wouldn't open his mouth, we gave up and brought him into our bed so at least we wouldn't have to keep getting up. And he obviously didn't want to lie flat (teething pain, I think) so he just sat there, cuddling his book, for ages and then finally deigned to lie down against me and then Andy and go to sleep.
Another hour later, he was snoring so I put him back in his own bed and finally got a bit more sleep.
7.30 he woke up and started his 'get me out of bed for the day' noises. We tried to tell him to go back to sleep and held out for as long as possible but gave up when he started crying really hard (you know, all shuddery breaths) and just got up.
So I've had about four hours' sleep on top of being tired already and am really short-tempered and about to ring my Mum to ask if she'll have Jack for a few hours today because otherwise I am going to spend most of the day shouting at him.

Ah well, Mum has agreed to have Jack for the afternoon so I've only got a couple of hours to get through adn then I can either sleep and give myself a good long evening this evening to write and hang out here, or write and hang out here this afternoon and go to bed this evening (which is the way I prefer to do things, but it depends how knackered I feel by the time I get back from Mum's)!

Hope the day gets better!

Definitely. Though I've had to book tomorrow afternoon off work and just swapped Mum around to do it, because she already has Jack 2 1/2 days a week and I can't really ask her to do any more. Still, at least he and I should both be a bit better by tomorrow.
And it's nice to hear you do actually go to bed occasionally! :-) Sleep well, and with any luck I'll have my chapter waiting for you when you wake up :-)

It has improved, actually. I've taken tomorrow afternoon off work (I only work afternoons on Wednesdays) and sent Jack round Mum's today instead, so I actually have the house to myself and I'm just sitting here quietly enjoying myself. And I shall attempt to have a very early night tonight!

Unfortunately, Jack started crying again pretty much as soon as I got him home, and he still won't lie down - it obviously hurts his head.
So goodness knows how much sleep we'll get tonight. He's only just gone to sleep! I'll be dragging him off to the doctor in the morning (oops, I nearly typed doctor with a capital 'D'!) and I just hope he'll be able to help. Even if it's only with something to knock JAck out and make him sleep!
