Great rehearsal tonight

Just got back from Anything Goes rehearsal and I really, really enjoyed it. We had a six hour rehearsal yesterday which we used to set the two big songs (Anything Goes and Blow Gabriel Blow) and I remembered to go through them before I went out this evening and was consequently one of the few who knew what they were doing, and got recognised for such by the director.

It was a great feeling, because after two years out of the theatre scene it's taken me a while for my brain to get used to learning songs and dances again - but the fact that I've now proved I can learn something one day and know it really well the next, and be one of the best (knowledge-wise) like I used to be - well, that just feels fantastic!

In other news, I've had a really good writing day too. I've gone from not knowing where the hell I was going with Part 4 of Master Plan this morning – having loads of ideas but not knowing which came next – to finding a opening line and a couple of other 'good bits', to having changed said opening line and written nearly 1,000 words!

I'm feeling good! :-)

I am crazy jealous of you being able to dance and sing! And clearly just having the discipline to go over it beforehand puts you ahead of the pack.

Yay for upcoming Part 4!

It's such a lot of fun. I love doing anything creative - performing, writing, knitting, cooking - though I think performing gives me the biggest high simply because it's so physical. The other things are fun to do but don't really come into their own until I get feedback. But I can enjoy the singing and dancing immensely even without feedback. And then when you get to the performance and hear the applause... well, that's even better!

Tbh, the discipline to go over things before rehearsal has developed from me always having been the one who knows what she's doing and liking being that person. As I've got older, I've found I have to work a lot harder (brainwise) to keep up with the younger ones in that respect, so I go through things in my head before rehearsal so that when I get there I can show off by knowing what I'm doing and have them all follow me! It's just vanity, I guess :-)

(Okay, spamming here, but it's my own journal - for once!)

I've got myself thinking now and that wanting to know what I'm doing is, I supposed, just the same part of me that wants my writing (and my knitting and my cooking) to be the best I can possibly make it. It is a kind of vanity, but not a bad kind :-)

Oh, and I did another 1000+ words of Part 4 yesterday - don't know where that came from, but it looks like I may have it up by the weekend at this rate!!!
