About four miles. From a housing estate towards the edge of a biggish town, to a village just outside the same town.

that's a nice distance- all the favorite shops and whatnot are still nearby but there's plenty of new stuff as well- and it shouldnt affect you getting to and from your jobs that much

Yeah, exactly. And it takes exactly the same time by car to get to Mum's to drop Jack off on work days - and I walk into town to work from there. It's a lot longer to walk, but we hardly ever do that anyway. And we'll get to drive through countryside rather than housing estate and annoying trafficky roundabouts to get there. :-)
