Earthshock

Just watched Earthshock and wow. I thought my crush on Peter Davison's Doctor (my first crush - I was nine when he became the Doctor and I already liked him All Creatures Great and Small and a children's programme he presented before that) was just because he was the first cute guy I really saw on tv. I was wrong. He was hot. The Fifth Doctor was really, really hot.

Guh.

(Yes, I know this isn't news to most of you, but it's news to me, okay?)

Apart from that, I liked Adric, whom I always used to find annoying. This time, it was Nyssa and Tegan who annoyed me because really, apart from the odd bit of getting caught and screaming, what were they there for? Okay, Tegan's got guts and I don't mind her so much, by Nyssa just seems completely characterless!

On the other hand, Adric was cute, clever and brave, and there's a great dynamic between him the Doctor.

As for the serial itself... very slow to start off with, but the last episode was really tense and had amazing pace for a 1980s BBC show and definitely made up for it. This was a good one! :-)

It took a while for Nyssa to grow on me, but once she gets out of that daft fairy costume she's pretty awesome.

The Doctor/Adric dynamic is really interesting, but Adric is a little irritating.

Huh. I swear I replied to this last night!

I expect Nyssa would be okay if she actually had something to do, but she didn't in this one and in the only other one I've seen - Logopolis - she just ended up being a pawn for the Master...

I've never much cared about Five's companions to be honest... well, apart from Turlough, but for shallow reasons ;)

I don't even remember Turlough. I must have watched those episodes but I've seen clips and read fics since then and I still don't remember him!
