Thanks to Sci-Fi's 'Doctor Who Weekend', I've just watched Logopolis. I already knew what it was about as it's fairly standard reading (I assume) for anyone researching to write the Master, but it was a load better than I expected. Yes, there were the dodgy sets and effects and the stilted dialogue, but the story was good.

A couple of things struck me though:

1. I hadn't realised how like Four Ten is. All that mad energy and talking nonsense at top speed - even the "Well..." at the start of a long sentence - that's all Four. Fascinating.

2. I always remember not being able to keep up with the stories of Doctor Who when I was a child because I couldn't understand what the Doctor was saying. That hasn't changed. It wasn't the fact that I was a child; it was the fact that it's really hard to understand what Tom Baker's saying! Mind you, in this case, it's an extremely convoluted script and I still don't really get quite what was going on, but I enjoyed it and the characters were fun and yeah. I really enjoyed it.

I love Logopolis. In fact I love that whole Master trilogy - Keeper of Traken/Logopolis/Castrovalva - so very much.

Yes, there's a lot of TB in David's performance, isn't there? I also see PD and PT a fair bit too.

Logopolis is FUN. And something the Master will Never Mention Again. I mean, how embarrassing is it that he destroyed a big chunk of the universe by accident? I love that he turns that into holding the universe for ransom, though. And that he tells the Doctor his plan when the Doctor was leaving.

And NO ONE ever speaks of it again. :giggles:

I see a lot of 4 and 5 in 10. He *wishes* he could be Seven.

You are so right on all counts. I really need to watch more Seven.

My understanding (if there's any plot there to understand *g*) is that he didn't know what they were doing, except that they were shaping the universe somehow, and he wanted to use that power to shape the universe the way he wanted. Only he didn't know that they were holding back entropy. So when he stopped them, to show them he could, of course, he destroyed them. Accidentally. Oops.

LOL! Um, yeah, that's pretty much it. Although, to be fair, I don't think anybody outside Logopolis knew what was going on there. The Doctor may have known, though--I don't remember.

How embarassing is it to die by falling from a Radio Telescope? Mwah!
