D'you know what? I just watched Love and Monsters for the first time since it originally aired and... it wasn't that bad.

Maybe it was because I knew this time around not to expect to see much of the Doctor, so I didn't spend the whole episode waiting for him to turn up for the big adventure. But I actually quite enjoyed it.

Possibly more than I enjoyed The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, actually, because that took a hell of a long time to get going and I didn't really care about the characters. Plus, loads of Rose and I'm trying, I'm really trying, but the more I see of Rose, the more she grates on me.

Sorry.

Anyway. Only three more episodes and I'm done with S2 - at last! :-)

I've never really liked Rose much, she was okay in S1, but as S2 progressed I liked her less and less. *sigh*

No, but taking into account that I was seriously consider skipping it altogether, it's pretty amazing! I really did quite enjoy it. I mean, I won't be racing to watch it again, but it was all right.

And re. Rose - I know. I just. Part of it, I know, is the Spike effect. The shippers who just make me puke. And part of it is... I don't know. It's not Billie, because I've liked her in other things, especially things where she sounds more like her well-spoken self and not a common little urchin. (Yes, I'm a snob.) I really am trying to like her but she's really starting to annoy me.

I had to stop watching the DW and TW comms to get away from it. Some people are just nuts. And it bleeds into their fics. it makes me nuts

Yeah, the only actual comm I'm still on is new_who, which is actually very safe and mainly just episode reviews and fic.

Oh, and I get the newsletters, but most days I just scroll past them! *g*

oh, I forgot about the newsletters, yeah, I get those too. I still watch torchwood_meta, but it's been really quiet. The newsletters can be overwhelming sometimes, this HUGE list of stories and whatnot

Yeah, I'd forgotten all about tw_meta until someone mentioned it the other day! Tbh, I'm far more of a DW fan than a TW fan anyway, though I know you're the opposite.

I want to like DW more than I do. And I'm enjoying getting familiar with old school, some of the aspects of newscholl just bug me and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade

Yeah, I guess it's just different things appeal to different people.

I think with me, a lot of it is the more upbeat feel to DW. It is, in general, a happier show. More fantasy (yes, I know it's sci-fi, not fantasy, but you know what I mean) and less gritty real life.

I miss the days of the Doctor having a guy as a companion- Jamie, Turlough, Jack. It was a different dynamic, but I liked it.

TW just wouldn't work without Jack, would it?

Donna is the best New Who companion so far!

I wonder what the dynamic would be if it were a trio of Donna, Jack and the Doctor.

The creation of Torchwood is all Rose's fault anyway. I don't know why she was written as such an idiot.
