Anything Goes opens at 7.30 tonight. Wish me luck!

Apparently we got a mention on Elaine Paige's radio show yesterday - she does a round-up of some of the shows that are on - which is pretty cool! Of course, she has done Anything Goes a lot (and with JB) so it's probably of personal interest to her.

Dress rehearsal yesterday was long (I was out of the house from 11.30 am to 7 pm!) and not great but not terrible either. It was our first (only) rehearsal with the band and it was really, really wonderful having a whole band, especially the brass for this style of music. Lifted the whole thing.

So now I'm getting all nervous, though fortunately I have Jack to look after, not to mention housework to do, so it's not like I've got time to fret about it, not if I want to get my writing done too...

And for those who are waiting, Master Plan is still going ahead at an average rate of about 400 words a day (6,254 words total as of now) and I'm heading towards the end, first draft-wise. Then I've got to go back and connect it all up etc. etc. So I'm not making any promises about when you'll see it, but it shouldn't be forever and a day, at least! :-)

(ETA: Apparently my email is going to be down for maintenance from 22:00 tonight for 'up to 16 hours' - so if you want to get hold of me, either do it before then, or post it here!)

Just got back from Anything Goes rehearsal and I really, really enjoyed it. We had a six hour rehearsal yesterday which we used to set the two big songs (Anything Goes and Blow Gabriel Blow) and I remembered to go through them before I went out this evening and was consequently one of the few who knew what they were doing, and got recognised for such by the director.

It was a great feeling, because after two years out of the theatre scene it's taken me a while for my brain to get used to learning songs and dances again - but the fact that I've now proved I can learn something one day and know it really well the next, and be one of the best (knowledge-wise) like I used to be - well, that just feels fantastic!

In other news, I've had a really good writing day too. I've gone from not knowing where the hell I was going with Part 4 of Master Plan this morning – having loads of ideas but not knowing which came next – to finding a opening line and a couple of other 'good bits', to having changed said opening line and written nearly 1,000 words!

I'm feeling good! :-)
