My Journal is one year old today. I started off with one friend (the lovely
janedavitt) who was actually the one who persuaded me to get an account here in the first place. She was also inadvertently responsible for directing me to
torch_wood, and it was there that I met so many of the wonderful people on my flist. Well, the few I didn't snag off
becky_h's flist, anyway. But it was at
torch_wood that I met Becky, so I guess that counts! *g*
I now have 27 mutual friends (and looking that up I've just realised there are a few people I meant to friend back and obviously never did, so that's about to increase) and I talk to many of them every single day. I've never had friends like that before, and it's fantastic.
In the past year, I've moved pretty firmly out of the Buffy/Angel fandom and into the Doctor Who/Torchwood fandom. I've also gone from occasionally writing original fic to writing lots and lots and lots of fanfic. And, more recently, lots and lots and lots role-playing. I am having a fabulous time here and am really looking forward to what my second year on LJ brings.
Okay, you can stop throwing up now. I'm done. :-)

Bottoms Up!
Funnily enough 30th January was my 1st LJ birthday, which went past completely unremarked by myself until I saw this post. I'm using mine a lot more than I initially thought I would, it was originally started just for me to post my fic, specifically The Mystery We Are which was the first thing I'd written in years. Now, I waffle, post quizzes, read lots and lots of fic as well as writing, give people silly prompts (and some not so silly) to write more fic, squee and generally take pleasure in ignoring the wankier bits of fandom all while being a fine and upstanding if a little mad citizen. Sort of.
My fandom obsession hasn't really changed since I started my LJ, more like it's expanded! I was always a Highlander crossover whore, but it was the existence of Torchwood and Captain Jack specifically that made me want to write again. Now I love to see Jack crossed into as many universes as possible, as well as reading 'proper' Torchwood and Who fic. Added doughnuts are a bonus. *g*
It's fun!
I have met some lovely people since posting regularly on LJ, and a nice thing is having a good proportion of British online friends (i.e. lots); not something that has ever been the case in any of my previous fandoms or the other places I lurk (like Sims forums).
Now I just need to thank the postman, my mother and the dog...

I use mine A LOT more than I expected to! (Though a bit less lately since I've become obsessed with RP.)
And yeah, it's Jack that made me want to write again too. :-)
I must watch some Highlander at some point. I've never seen any (except the film and that was - oh, God - something like 15 years ago) but there seem to be a LOT of crossovers with Highlander and it would be nice to have at least seen one episode.
I've actually gone from an almost entirely British set of friends in the Buffy fandom, because I pretty much only frequented the BBC message board because I didn't want to be spoiled, to having loads of American friends here. It's easier with DW & TW anyway, since we get it first! *g*
I still haven't got round to reading any of your fic. I swear I will at some point...

Highlander eps on Megaupload
'Methos' IIRC the sound is out of synch on this, but it's still worth watching as its the first time Methos was seen in Highlander, about half way through season 3. At this point they were thinking of killing him off at the end of the season, which they didn't do funnily enough.
Judgement Day. This is the last episode of season 4 so it might not make a lot of sense.
Also there are links at one of the Highlander LJs, that I have permission to share. These are the last 2 eps of the 3rd season, and tie in with 'Methos'
Finale Part I
Finale Part II
Hope you can get the vids OK, spreading Highlander/Methos love is worth doing...
As for the fic, if you skip the really long one you get to Jack smut much quicker (go for 'Turn Back the Night' if you want to see Methos/Jack smut without much plot).

Thanks - will have a look. Um, that first link isn't a link, though...
As for the fic, somehow you obviously know I like smut... Can't think why that would be! *g*

I also pretty much left Buffy/Angel fandom this pat year. I'm pretty amused by, just this month, several of my favorite Buffy/Angel fans getting reeled into Torchwood by Marsters kissing a boy, and realizing they like other things about the show.

I'm not in contact with any of my old Buffy friends anymore so I hadn't really thought about JM's appearance in that light, but yeah - if he can bring in the Buffy fans, that's great!
Still think he looked awful in KKBB though.

Phooey, they've taken the file down cos it was 'violating their TOS'. Oh well, upload it again... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z3AFD3W0 it's in a zip file this time.
Smut is good; Jack smut is better.

The appeal of Spike, for me, was always the character Spike, and not James Marsters at all. So, I didn't really notice.
