The one where you post a bit of the first entry of each month to give a review of the year. I actually did this in a couple of weeks ago but never got round to posting it. But since I've got it saved, I might as well post it now!
I didn't actually arrive at LJ till 1 February 2007, so I can't do the whole year, but here's the rest of it from there on. I haven't included fics or episode reviews, or my monthly round-ups, and I have included quite large quotes because it was hard to chop them up even smaller and still make sense!
February
My first ever entry: OK, this is scary. I've written a lot in the 34 years I've been around: something like 20 novels, some better and longer than others (the first was finished when I was 14, and only a few have been finished since I left school, because I've been trying to make one or two of them publishable and that's a never-ending job), plus daily diary entries from the age of about 13 1/2 to 19, with a few diaries since which never got beyond six months because to be honest my life is just not as interesting as it was when I was a teenager. My best diary since then was November 2005 to c. June 2006, because it was about my first baby, who arrived on Christmas Day 2005, so I actually had something to write about!
But I've never ever published anything. Ever. All right, I've had a few friends and family members read one or two of my novels, and all right I suppose there were essays and things at school and university, but I've never had anything like this that anyone could read.
So...scary.

It's just come to my attention that Buffy the series is ten years old today, so I couldn't go to bed without posting about that.
I love Buffy. It's changed my life. I've probably watched more hours of Buffy (and Angel) over the last ten years than I watched tv at all in the previous ten years. I've learned a hell of a lot about American culture, language, customs, schooling, laws. I've learned about myths of vampires, witches, the occult, and Wicca. I've drooled over Angel, Xander, Giles, Spike, Wesley and even, on occasion, Riley. I've laughed more than I thought possible. I've been moved beyond words. (Well, almost. It takes a lot to actually make me speechless!) I've thought about things I'd never thought about before, and I've discovered that I'm not alone in the trials I face in life. I've been inspired.
April
I didn't get to see this (Smith & Jones) till last night, as we actually went out to the cinema on Saturday (for the first time since Serenity!!!) to see Becoming Jane, which I really enjoyed, though I probably wouldn't have done if I'd actually remembered anything about Jane Austen's life because then I'd have been muttering about how inaccurate it was.
May
Wow, it's a long time since I posted anything in my own journal (as opposed to comments in other people's)! In my defence, I've had a bad couple of weeks: first my 17 month-old son Jack had a cold - his first really bad one - which meant he was waking up several times a night so I got very tired. And then of course I got the cold. Last night was our first through night in ten days, which I know is the norm for some people but Jack normally sleeps right through and therefore so do we!
Added to that, I've just joined a new drama group which means I'm out till c. 10.30 two nights a week for the first time since I got pregnant. Not great timing, admittedly, but I wouldn't miss rehearsals for anything. I hadn't realised how totally I had missed the buzz of the theatre. So I'm in at least the chorus (auditions next Monday to see if I can get in the dancing chorus) of Anything Goes, to be performed in October, and I am loving every second of it!
June
Off on holiday tomorrow so I won't be around at all for a whole week :-( I'm going to miss everyone terribly, though I think my wrist will be glad of a break from using the mouse!
July
Need to get this off my chest.
I am, it must be confessed, a bit of a greenie. And ever since my son Jack was born 18 months ago, hubby and I have made a big point of having him in cloth nappies. (Not just because of the landfill issue, though: I also hate the idea of so many chemicals next to a baby’s skin, and the stories I’ve heard about how a child could die if they inhaled or swallowed the gel which all too frequently leaks out, because it would swell and block the airways and absorb the water in the body, terrify me!)

42nd Entry Meme
OK, this is spooky. A while ago, jadesfire2808 posted this meme:
Find your 42nd entry ever. Yes, this may require some counting and basic math. Deal with it. Copy that entry in a new entry. This is the meaning of your life.
At the time I'd only got 23 entries, but I thought I'd try to remember and make my 42nd post special.
Then of course I forgot all about it, and have only just remembered.
And guess which my 42nd entry was?
Yep, you got it. My first fic post! How cool is that?
September
Just got a call from our estate agents and we have the first person coming to view our house at 4.00 this afternoon!
Aaaargh!
So now I have to tidy up, clean the windows (inside - the window cleaner is doing the outside at this very moment), bathroom, kitchen, floors etc. etc. etc. before 4.00!!!!!
*Very excited and very nervous* I've never done this before!

"Come As You're Not" Party - help please!
OK, following umpteen mentions of karaokegal's "Come As You're Not" Party, I have finally found a very vague something to sign up to write!

Personal Canon Meme
Wow – I made it! 10 things I hold to be my personal canon in Doctor Who. Nearly all of these are comments on the relationships between the main characters, because that seems to be what I'm interested in.

I went out with Andy last night. We went to see my old drama group's pantomime, which was very funny and we laughed a lot, which was great, but it also made me very aware that I am never, ever going back to that group. The acting side of it was fairly slick, but the singing side… they've got to the point where they haven't got a pianist, just backing tracks for the songs, and they only have two or three strong singers, and there was just no oomph to the singing. Or the acting, really. I'm sticking with my present group. They actually put some effort into it.

That's… actually quite a good review of my year. Interesting. Doesn't mention the depression, but pretty much everything else is there!

I might actually steal that 42nd post one. Depends what my 42 post is. Heh.

Look forward to seeing your 42nd post one. :-)
(Btw, you did get my email earlier, didn't you? I'm getting paranoid - I've had several go missing today!)

My 42nd post turned out to be a meme. I'm reading through my early entries. FOUR years ago! 17 year old me was a nutter. Very embarrassing. Should start a new journal, or something.

Wasn't trying to hurry you - just wanted to make sure it had arrived.
And yeah. I re-read my teenage diaries a few years ago and yeah. Wouldn't have wanted those to be public! *g*

And now I'm rambling at you.
Sometimes I'm brave enough to do the window-changing thing, but it does look a bit suspicious if I switch windows every time my mum wanders past.

Yeah, the window-changing thing probably was a bit suspicious until Andy found out what I was upto because I hadn't changed it fast enough! Since then, I think he knows I just do it to spare his sensitivities. :-)

hmmm *wonders what my 42nd entry was...*

But yeah, total newbie. :-)
*looks forward to seeing the revival of the 42nd entry meme amongst those who didn't do it before*
