No idea if this is actually still season 13 but 13.7 is what IMDB is calling this ep and therefore so am I!
I don't know if it's just that I went into this with really low expectations (and some gin) but… I actually thought that was quite good. There was excitement, and humour, and suspense, and I really rather enjoyed it!
I mean, Irish lady (Sarah) got all the good, funny lines that Yaz should have got, poor thing, but Dan had some good moments, especially confusing and literally running rings around a Dalek. I liked the fact that the episode paid tribute to the fact that Yaz and Dan had spent four years together – a very nice dynamic between the two of them. Just wish there'd been more of them and a little less of Sarah and Nick – or rather, because I liked Sarah and Nick, that Yaz and Dan had been given equal weighting.
Loved the mention of resonating concrete!
I was disappointed that the TARDIS reset didn't result in a nicer TARDIS set. They missed a trick there. Could have got rid of those weird tree trunk things and made something actually aesthetically pleasing.
(Still want to know how the universe is still there though.)
According to Den of Geek, the guy at the end enjoying the fireworks was Karl from The Woman Who Fell to Earth, whom I have to admit I don't remember as I've only watched it twice. Seems a bit random. I assumed it was the unseen Geoff!
But anyway, very enjoyable and darned sight better than last season!
ETA: More thoughts over at Astrogirl's journal (as usual)
ETA2: Wtf was up with Jeff (everyone is spelling it that way instead of Geoff so I suppose I should too, though I can't find it confirmed anywhere)? Why was he storing all sorts of weird things there, and apparently even living there, but mysteriously out every NYE? I seriously thought he was going to have some kind of master plan here, and that that was why it was him at the end, but... apparently not?
Apparently these were just throwaway distractions or something? That kind of thing really bugs me.
ETA3: Also, when Sarah said she wanted to travel, did anyone else hope she (a character with actual *character*) would be joining the TARDIS crew? I mean, why have that be her desire and then not do that???
