I very much enjoyed this. I'm not a massive Wonder Woman fan but I think Gal Gadot is gorgeous and very easy to watch, and I thought this was a good, well-thought-out, entertaining movie.
I was especially impressed by Kristen Wiig. I really enjoyed the beginning part with the two of them becoming friends, and okay, it was fairly obvious she was going to become the villain, but I thought it was nicely done. The idea that she got righteously defensive against someone who had previously abused her, and then that led into the theme of 'power corrupts'… I thought that was very believable. Though I could have done without the 'Cats' thing at the end.
I even thought the way they brought back Steve and made it actually make sense within the context of the story was very good. My whole family had groaned when we heard Chris Pine was coming back for this one, but they made it work, and made her let him go for the second time, poor woman, and hopefully that is that. It made a good story.
I also enjoyed the fun of Diana showing Steve the world this time around – turn and turn about!
Max Lord was not so impressive, but it kind of worked and it was quite entertaining so, okay.
Surprise Lynda Carter at the end was awesome, if a little confusing – especially as she'd already played a different role in Supergirl, and a lot of this felt very reminiscent of Supergirl, up to and including Max Lord!
Loved all the 80s fashions, though to be honest after the opening sequence they didn't really get featured. But it felt like an 80s movie – colourful and bright and light-hearted, so different so all the dark, grim stories we often get these days.
