Thinky thoughts on POV

Connection Part 2 (still not quite got a title yet, though I have a possible one in the running) is back from beta and has undergone what is hopefully the last main edit and I'm just waiting to sleep on it and check it through tomorrow before finally posting it. (Yay!)

But anyway, I realised something:

This is the first time in years (possibly more than a decade) that I've written Jack from someone else's POV. (All right, there was the end of Master Plan, but the Master's POV is a very crazed POV! Giles' POV is a much, much saner and more accurate POV!) But anyway, yeah - I've been role-playing Jack non-stop since 2009, and I like to think I've got to know him extremely well in all that time, but it's all been from inside his head.

So it's been absolutely fascinating writing him from outside his head for a change, and seeing him from another, specific, viewpoint. Lots of little insights that I didn't expect. Really cool.

Oh and god, I've gone and totally fallen for Giles again. I'm already planning more episodes for this little series, beyond just tidying up and posting the bits I'd already written!

Wait...are you writing a story about Giles and Jack? That is brilliant! Is it posted? Can I read it?

I am :-) You can find the first part here (or here if you prefer the original LJ post with comments!) - it's the first fic I ever posted and still one of my absolute favourites. I then wrote a few drabbles and bits and pieces set much later, but never finished this part, the second part, the "and then they did kinky sex" part, so that is what is about to be posted here, once I'm absolutely happy with it. (I've still got one paragraph that isn't quite coming to heel yet.) But please, go ahead and read the first part and then you'll be all set for when I post part 2! :-)

Aww, thank you! It means such a lot that you liked it - always means more coming from someone who writes such a good Jack themselves! :-)

Also? I'm finding seeing *anything* through Giles' eyes interesting now, given that I'm now older than he was during the show and it's amazing the difference to perspective that the passing of 23 years (god, has it really been that long???) has made!
