Okay, I seem to have written most of my review in response to [personal profile] astrogirl's review so won't bother repeating myself on that!

I also wanted to mention that I loved the idea of the TARDIS as the ghost monument. It's been done before, kind of, with the Trenzalore thing, but I still loved it, and as soon as Art Malik started talking about it only appearing every thousand rotations or whatever it was I started to get an inkling that it might be the TARDIS out of phase with the world, though I didn't twig that it was because the planet was out of orbit, even though that had been made a big thing of. Again, been done before with The Stolen Earth, but this was different and cool enough that I didn't mind.

One thought: at the time, I enjoyed the character interactions enough that I didn't mind but in retrospect, why wasn't more made of the dangerous water and the toxic air? I mean, no-one even got anywhere near falling into the water, and no-one seemed to have any problems breathing the air - and no-one seemed to be suffering from dehydration after presumably 24 hours or so without water. I feel like they missed a trick there.

Visiaully, the episode was beautiful. I don't normally notice a lot of that stuff, but I did the colours of the landscape and sky were particularly gorgeous.

Yeah, I wondered about that, too. Maybe there was something cut due to time constraints or something, and I'm glad there was all that character interaction; but though I enjoyed the episode overall, that thing felt a bit sloppy. I was wincing in sympathy at them setting off to walk across a desert with sun beaming on them, without hats or drinkable water (or sunscreen for the white people, for that matter). And then nothing was actually made of it. We don't know if it was super hot, of course, even if it was sunny - it could be a cool desert, I guess? Maybe it was winter there? But simply trekking for that long would make you thirsty. Heck, even when I'm not doing anything physical, I need a fair amount of water in a day. And it would have been good to at least know how the air was poisonous, since nobody seemed to be affected by it...

I also picked up on the TARDIS being the Ghost Monument at the same point, and I really liked it.

Anyway, I kind of meant to add you earlier when we were e-mailing back and forth about you beta-reading for me etc. because it would be nice to chat more via our journals. But I'm doing it now, hope that's all right? No pressure to add back if you don't want for any reason, of course. :-)
