On writing the Master (again)

I've figured out why that last chapter freaked me out so much. It's because I let the Master win. Completely.

Well, not quite completely, because the Doctor was holding out on him by being deliberately passive, and Jack got his own back by not giving the Master much info. on his death. But there really wasn't much hope in there for either of them. About the best that could be said was that they were still keeping going.

So I'm making sure there's a bit more hope in the next chapter. It's hard to get much in without alerting the Master to it, since he's telling the story, but I think I'm managing to make it clear that neither of our heroes is quite as downtrodden as the Master thinks they are... *g*

Further update on today's writing

Because I want to brag *g*. I've written 2196 words today. I have no idea when I last wrote as much as that in one day, but it certainly wasn't this year. Or last year. Or any of the recent years.

So MP Chapter 6 is standing at almost 3,000 words, and heading towards the end. And I'm onto the fun stuff :-)

Unfortunately, the more hopeful Jack bit has been pushed through into the next chapter, so poor Jack's not getting such a good time of it this session. But the Doctor's having fun - lots of fun, right now, so at least one of them's enjoying himself, eh? *g*

Oh, and before travels_in_time says it again, I'm sorry for hogging all the creativity! :-)
