A little thought on TW 2.1

So, I rewatched LotTL last night, and was struck by a thought.


When Jack leaves the Doctor and Martha and runs off to the Hub, he's wearing a light blue shirt. When he catches up with his team confronting the blowfish, he's wearing a dark blue shirt. (Other items of clothing may have changed too, not to mention his haircut, but that was what I noticed.)

So... what had he been upto that necessitated a change of clothing? *g*

And, actually, how long had he been back? Obviously long enough for day to become night, but perhaps it could have been a couple of days.

Well, yeah, that might well be the actual explanation (especially for the haircut). :-)

But I was just speculating about the fictional explanation... *g*

as an episode tag explanation? Lots of things to speculate about. Was the team out chasing the blowfish the whole time? Did Jack just need to change because he's back and needed to make a clean break from his time away?

Well, it's fairly obvious the team didn't know he was back, but he could have hidden out in his room (maybe sleeping?) and they might not have noticed if they'd only been there briefly.

Or he could have gone anywhere. Gone to see someone. (Alain? *g*) Or... I don't know. But it could have been quite a while.

Or yes, he might have just wanted different clothes. Though he looked pretty fresh and clean in that last scene of LotTL.

but, if the Doctor had given him the shirt (or the TARDIS) it would be a reminder, even if clean

It's a tad more likely than Jack got frisky with Janet when he returned and his clothes got ruined

I've been mostly focusing on my bigbang. It's just passed the 6k mark!

I have to admit, I'm wondering if in my case it might be partly the anti-depressants. I am a LOT happier and calmer at the moment (I've had two weeks of actually enjoying my days off with Jack and almost looking forward to them) - but calm and happy does not tend to make for good writing. Or even any desire to write.

Congratulations on your bigbang, though. 6k is very impressive! :-)

well, as far as side effects go, that's one pretty easy to live with. And I'm glad they are working! Happier is GOOD!!! :)

I almost deleted my whole thing- I'd written 1200 words or so within a week of signing up and then didn't touch it and got negative about it but when I mentioned doing that to _medley_ she said she was going to thwap me upside the head for even thinking about it so I didn't.

Nearly half of what's written so far is a flashback with Maggie as a giggling 4 year old though, which didn't progress the story very far, but it is cute

Yeah. Happier is good. It's just the sort of numbness that comes with it that I don't like. Still.

Good for Medley. Never, ever delete anything! :-)

And I'm sure giggling 4 year old Maggie is fun reading. Doesn't have to progress the story. :-)

She and the Doc might've been there before and knowing how badly the Doctor seems to park the TARDIS I wouldn't be surprised if Jack arrived a bit early/late/wrong.

Yes, if I'm going to handwave that I'd say it had something to do with the fact that when he left he was wearing a dark blue shirt. He might have remembered that and it might have been important to him for some reason.

Yeah, I wondered if it might be to try and fool his team he hadn't been away - depending on when he thought the Doctor had dropped him back. Which we still don't know.

Or... it could have been that he thought the Doctor had dropped him off the same day he left?

Uh huh, that sounds good. He changed clothes and then double-checked the when and all of where he was. And it's not like the Doctor hasn't been off before. Works for me!

He had plenty of time to get it mucky... he arrived in daylight, but didn't shoot Hootie until it was nighttime.

So he gets back to the hub, team are out. He gets shirt mucky (I think Myfanwy slobbered on him a bit too much) and has to change it before going out and tracking the team down.
