Glorious Purpose (Loki 1.1)

So. We have got Disney+ for 3 months thanks to Tesco Clubcard vouchers so we're watching Loki at last! I've always loved Loki, since I started roleplaying with a Loki, before I'd even seen him in Thor or the Avengers!

. I'd seen lots of pictures of Loki in a collar, and obviously the whole thing was an aberrant timeline so I suppose I was kind of expecting something along the lines of working with an organisation who specialise in timelines, but still. A whole set-up episode that literally just sets up the concept? That's unusual, and very brave. My 16 year old son (who's enjoyed all MCU with me so far) wasn't very convinced, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and am definitely looking forward to more!

Notes:

The 'Judge' lady near the beginning… I was going, I know who that is, I should know who that is, but it wasn't until I saw the credits that I got it… Tish! Martha's little sis, whose face I know extremely well due to the number of times I've watched the S3 Master episodes. Wow. 12 years ago, and she still looks amazing!

Loved the animated explanation in the style of the Flintstones.

Going into this, I thought it was going to be a shame that they had to take Loki back so far in his own timeline to be able to branch off it, missing all the character development after the first Avengers movie. But actually, through the device of showing him a reel of film with what happened, they managed to incorporate it anyway. Nicely done.

I did kind of expect there to be more reaction from Loki at the TVA calling him Mr Laufeyson, so that was a bit odd. But perhaps it'll get addressed later.

I was fascinated by the way that already, in the first episode, Mobius managed to get Loki to admit the truth to himself. Or some of it at least.

“I know who you are! You’re that criminal with the blue box!” – my son immediately thought this was a Doctor reference, before I pointed out that they meant the Tesseract.

Finally? Poor Loki. And yet, perhaps, lucky Loki. He gets a chance to develop as a character at last.

...It turns out that I don't have any MCU icons! I need to rectify this! Can anyone point the way to some, please?
