Okay, it's getting on towards Christmas and I spent a happy hour or so yesterday going through recipes for mincemeat, Christmas cake and Christmas pudding and adding the ingredients to my shopping list for my online Tesco order today.

Only to find that Tesco apparently do not have *any* currants. Not sold out or waiting for stock. They just don't have them.

And this at six weeks to Christmas!

Well, I guess I'll be getting my 750g of currants elsewhere then!

ETA: No candied peel either! This is ridiculous!

Try your local market? Ours sells all kinds of dried fruit by weight so each year I can buy just the amount I need for Christmas. (Also try searching for "mixed peel" instead of "candied peel", I think that's how Supercook labels it).

Oh yeah, I know I can get it elsewhere - even the bigger Co-op usually has that sort of thing! It's just frustrating because Tesco have got 3 for 2 on baking stuff at the moment, and because - well - I just expected them to have them!

And yeah, I searched for peel and mixed peel and then went along the whole blooming virtual shelf, but no peel! Mad.

That *is* annoying. I don't use candied peel though, none of us really like finding them in our Christmas goodies; it's the one thing we are totally united about.
