As for the announcement itself, I am extremely happy with it. I wanted an older Doctor, and I got one. I wanted someone I'd actually heard of, and I got it. I don't remember him from anything other than DW and TW, but he impressed me greatly in those and I know I *have* seen him in some other things, and he seems to have a great range of acting which is of course something the Doctor absolutely needs. So very much looking forward to this, and seeing what Moffat can do with a new Doctor. :-)
