Woah, long, long time since my last post. Long time since I even logged in as Unfeathered, to be honest. My transition out of fandom back into real life has finally become complete enough that now I'm even too busy in RL even to tag my RP threads, a lot of the time. How things have changed since I first started out on LJ, desperate for an escape from RL!

But, even though I sincerely doubt anyone's still reading my journal, I had to come on here and share that I've just shared Buffy with my son for the first time. Cut for length )

Anyway. I'm just so chuffed that, having shared the whole of Doctor Who (except Torchwood, obviously!) with him, I can now share my first fannish love with him too!

I was looking forward to getting to In the Dark in my Angel S1 rewatch and it was just as much fun as I remembered. But the moment it started, I couldn't help thinking of the similiarites with KKBB. Mainly because they both start with James Marsters up on a roof giving us a nice little introduction to his character. And of course because he's basically playing the same part in both of them. Old shag (I would say love but that's not really true in either case) of the leading man - the dark, mysterious, older-than-he-looks leading man - with whom he has a love/hate relationship. Meeting the team and chatting up the girls (Cordy/Tosh/Gwen) and the girls falling for it, even if only briefly. And there's torture in ITD while in KKBB Jack's just got back from the year on the Valiant. Both episodes even end with another rooftop scene and a sunset! (Or is it sunrise in KKBB? I can't remember. Same coloured sky, anyway!)

I know it's nothing deep, but it amused me, and I can't help wondering how much of the mirroring in KKBB was deliberate!

I've started watching Buffy again after a bit of a hiatus, due to the fact that last year I finally (after 8 years) finished my viewing of all seasons in order. The reason that took so long was that at the end of 2005 I became a mother and everything else pretty much went out the window! And also the fact that Buffy was over and I got into the Doctor Who/Torchwood fandom instead (and started writing fanfic and role-playing), so watching Buffy and Angel moved a long way down the list of priorities. But actually, the slow-down was good because it meant that by the time I got to the later seasons of both shows which I hadn't liked so much originally, I really, really enjoyed them.

Cut for rambling )

This is the ficlet I wrote for the first challenge of the first round of [livejournal.com profile] kink_las. I have to admit I'm not entirely happy with it and it could definitely use some work, but it looks as if I'm not going to get round to doing that work and since it's been posted already, I think I'm just going to leave it as it is. But I wanted to post it in my fic community as a record so here it is:

Okay, so last Thursday I was bored at work and Morgyn prompted me and fic ensued. It's probably the least plotty PWP I've ever written, but I enjoyed writing it and it was an interesting exercise because it's entirely without dialogue and entirely without mentioning names.

Many many happy returns to [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt and er, here's a little something I wrote for you. I actually wrote it for your birthday last year but I hadn't posted any fic at that point and I lost my nerve.

So here you go. Better late than never, I guess. :-)

(Sorry I can't write Jim/Blair. But this is at least Giles/Spike, a pairing I will always associate with you!)

I just signed up for a ficathon. (Okay, yes. Definitely mad. A ficathon whose deadline is the beginning of June, just about the time we're hopefully going to be moving. Ah well. I don't think the fic has to be long!)

Anyway, this is something I came across thanks to [livejournal.com profile] calliopes_pen and it's a Buffy/Doctor Who crossover ficathon over at [livejournal.com profile] sonic_hellmouth. The Buffy/DW fics I've seen (apart from my own) are so few and far between that I couldn't resist the chance to contribute and ask for a few more! Though I have to say the other people who've signed up so far all seem to like different sort of things to me. But variety is good. We'll see what happens!

Summary: After her Harry's death, Lucy finds someone to comfort and help her
Author’s Note: This came about following this conversation with [livejournal.com profile] woodsong_1978 when I was coaxing her into playing Lucy to my Master in RP. You can blame the excellence of her characterisation for getting me thinking about Lucy properly for the first time. :-)

Title: Alien Donuts in Sunnydale (drabble)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Um, this appears to be somewhere in Season 5

Author’s Note: For [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper – Happy Hanukkah!
Author's Note2: Some knowledge of [livejournal.com profile] donutsweeper's alien donut 'verses would be useful... See here and here

"Where's donut-boy got to anyway?" Spike demanded, crossing his feet on the Magic Box table amongst the ancient texts. "Ought to be here by now."

Buffy gave him a snotty look. "You don't even need to eat!"

Spike lifted one dark eyebrow and smirked. "Like to dunk 'em in my blood. All that sugar, melting in…"

"Thank you, Spike, for that delightful image," Giles said dryly, while the girls shuddered agreement.

The bell jangled and Xander ambled in, munching a donut. "Oh, at last!" Spike turned, reaching out – and stopped dead.

"Oi. What 'cha looking at me like that for?"

I have no idea where this one came from – apart from the prompt, obviously! – or why it wanted to be written in the second person. I've never had that happen before!
